Kundu International Academy (“KIA”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of the personal information of our students, parents, guardians, staff, and website visitors. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information in accordance with applicable laws in Papua New Guinea and international best practices.
We may collect the following types of personal information:
We use personal information for the following purposes:
When you contact KIA through a KIA Facebook Page, Facebook comments, or Messenger, Meta Platforms may provide us with limited account and interaction information. This can include a public profile or display name, platform user, conversation, thread, comment, and message identifiers, the text and time of the inbound comment or message, the relevant Page or post identifier, and delivery or reply metadata.
We use this information only to identify the relevant programme (KIA Mainstream, Kundu FODE, MLC, or an unclear route), route and classify the enquiry, prevent duplicate handling, provide an approved routine response, or send the matter to an authorised person for manual review. We do not sell this information or use it for advertising audience enrichment, unrelated profiling, or CAPI/ad targeting. Meta may process the same interaction under its own terms and privacy policy.
Where this response service is enabled, the minimum necessary identifiers, message/comment content, classification and response or escalation evidence may be stored in controlled operational and audit records. Access is limited to authorised KIA operators and the least-privilege service identities required for the Page. We use access controls, secret storage outside source code and logs, replay and duplicate protection, audit records, independent send kill switches, and HTTPS for public services where applicable.
We retain the minimum information for as long as it is needed for enquiry handling, duplicate prevention, safety review, operational accountability, security, dispute resolution, and legal or regulatory obligations. When it is no longer needed, it is deleted or anonymised under the applicable retention schedule. A limited record may be retained longer where required for lawful, audit, security, fraud-prevention, or other legally recognised purposes, with access restricted.
You can request access, correction, or deletion of information handled from a Facebook or Messenger interaction using our Data Deletion Instructions or by contacting us. The KIA Mainstream and Kundu FODE programmes remain separate governed routes; this response service does not decide admissions, fees, payment settlement, examination eligibility, or other exceptions.
Kundu International Academy may use artificial intelligence tools and automated systems (including large language models and AI assistants) to help draft communications, analyse feedback, generate reports, and improve our services.
When we use AI tools:
We treat all personal information with strict confidentiality. We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, or disclosure. Access to personal information is limited to authorised staff who need it to perform their duties.
